A blink is a brief interruption that happens when protective equipment on the line responds to a disturbance, such as a branch, an animal or a lightning strike. The equipment opens to stop the fault and closes again a moment later, so power returns on its own if the problem has cleared. A blink usually means the system worked rather than failed.
- Note when the interruptions happen and how often.
- Report repeated blinks so the line can be reviewed.
- If power stays off, use the outage reporting options instead.
