Why do my lights blink when the power does not stay off?

A blink is a brief interruption that happens when protective equipment on the line responds to a disturbance, such as a branch, an animal or a lightning strike. The equipment opens to stop the fault and closes again a moment later, so power returns on its own if the problem has cleared. A blink usually means the system worked rather than failed.

  1. Note when the interruptions happen and how often.
  2. Report repeated blinks so the line can be reviewed.
  3. If power stays off, use the outage reporting options instead.
