I received a capital credit notice. Is this money I can use now?

Usually not right away. An allocation notice records your share of the cooperative’s margins for a year; a retirement is the payment of previously allocated credits, and the Board of Directors decides when that happens. Read which one your notice describes.

In September 2026 the Board approved approximately $5 million in retirements, covering 100 percent of 2007 and 20 percent of 2008 allocations.

  1. Check whether the notice is an allocation or a retirement.
  2. Keep your mailing address current, since former members are paid by check.
  3. Contact customer service with questions about your own balance.
