Will I have to pay a deposit to start electric service?

A deposit may be required. Union Power runs a soft credit check with the information on your Application for Service to decide, and the fee schedule effective January 1, 2026 lists residential deposits of $175 or $375. Customer service can tell you which applies to your application.

  1. Complete the Application for Service so the credit check can run.
  2. Ask customer service which deposit applies before your service date.
  3. Deposits are refundable under the terms in the Service Rules and Regulations.
