Hearts for Hospice:
Union Power is committed to the communities we serve, and Union Power employees support a cause close to their hearts – Hospice. In addition to giving generously through voluntary payroll deductions throughout the year, co-op employees set an annual fundraising goal and plan various fundraising events, donating their time and money to this worthy organization.
All for a Good Cause
We support the Hospices of Union County and Stanly County, giving to each during alternate years. The co-op’s Hospice fundraising year runs from July – June. During the 2011 fundraising year, employees exceeded their $30,000 goal, donating a total of $38,333 to Hospice of Union County. They brainstormed unique ways to raise money internally, including “Dunk the Boss” booths at the co-op’s summer Employee Appreciation Day event. They also held a Hospice raffle, selling tickets for the winner’s choice of cash or a donated rifle of equal value.
You Can Be Involved
Are you looking for a wonderful cause to support? Our Hospice Committee also plans events that give you the opportunity to be involved, including:
- 12th Annual Ray Jenkins Memorial Golf Tournament – Saturday, June 18, at Charlotte National Golf Club in Indian Trail
Our goal for the 2011-2012 fundraising year is $35,000. If you or someone you know would like to be involved in Ray Jenkins Memorial Golf Tournament mentioned above, please email Carrie Cameron. If you would like to join with us in supporting Hospice, you may send your check, made out to Hospice of Union County, to Union Power Cooperative - ATTN: Hospice Committee - 1525 Rocky River Road North - Monroe, NC 28110 or contribute directly to Hospice by visiting the Hospice of Stanly County or Hospice of Union County websites.
Hospice has already touched the lives of many of our employees by caring for their loved ones, and Hospice has no doubt touched the lives of many of you. Giving back to the Hospices of Union and Stanly counties is our way of saying “thanks” to all those special Hospice staff members and volunteers who continue to show their unique brand of love and care.
